But It Could All Be Different . . .

You get out your yoga mat and roll it out on the floor. You light a candle and some incense. The aroma soon fills up the room. You turn on some deep relaxing music . . .

 

Before you begin your yoga practice, you like to take a few minutes for meditation. You enjoy calming your mind and soul. You enjoy observing your breath. You can feel the cold air as you inhale and the warm air as you exhale.

 

When you open your eyes, you take a few moments to acknowledge how you feel. It’s always the same . . . calm, serene, peaceful, tranquil etc.

 

After your meditation, you do a short breathing exercise. This exercise helps fill your brain with the oxygen it needs. You take deep breaths . . . in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds and out for 6 seconds.

I Was Struggling to Find My Peace Of Mind 

Finding My Anchor

Yoga became my anchor, or at least for a period. I went three times a week early in the morning to manage any stress or anxiety that I was feeling.

 

But I still felt a void . . .I had to go deeper. I had to get to the root cause of the negative self-talk. Living in my head was holding me back.

 

So, I decided to go on a hiking trip to Nepal to get away from it all in 2012. I loved it. I experienced delicate kindness and I discovered how spiritual people lived each day. 

 

The biggest impact was that I came back so grateful for what I had . . . but I knew there was more.
